About Us

Run Thornhill Run!

Thanks to our generous sponsors Islington Square.

Run Thornhill Run, our annual fitness fundraiser, is back and we're not letting Covid 19 get in the way.

Help us reach our fundraising target of £12,000 to keep Thornhill's Enrichment programme running for another year.

How do you do that? We want you to run, walk or skip 2k over the weekend 27th/28th June.

First, register on our eventbrite page so we know you are taking part

Then set up your sponsorship page at Virgin Money Giving and let all your friends and family know you are running.

It's a great way for people to support the school that means so much to all of our children. If everyone gives just a little, we can raise a lot.

You can run anywhere, even on the spot in your living room or back garden, it still counts!

But here are some distances to help you track your runs in our local parks:

2k is 2600 steps on the spot
2k is 6 laps of Thornhill Park
2k is 8 laps of Arundel Park on the outer edge
2k is 3 laps of Highbury Fields, the lower field
2k is 3 laps of Caledonian/Market Road Park, the outer edge
2k is 10 laps of Barnsbury Square
2k is 4 laps of the green around Paradise park

You Don't Have to Go Fast.  You Just Have to Go!

Walk it, run it, skip it!  We are going to run this race as a team!

Over the next couple of weeks, Liz Sandles and Third Space will be leading the children in their preparation for the run.  This is a great chance for everyone to get fit!  Liz, our fitness advisor will be offering free training guidance to adults and children via our Instagram page.

Signed up? Now Warm up - here's how!

Walk before you can run!

  • Start walking for an amount of time that feels comfortable - anything from 10-30 minutes.
  • Start to do one to two minute running intervals.
  • As time goes on make the running intervals longer, until you can run without walking.

How to run correctly

  • Keep you head straight and look ahead
  • Don't hunch your shoulders, relax them
  • Keep your arms at 90 degrees then swing them forward and back
  • Don't lift your knees too high
  • Take short, light steps
  • Breath deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Don't run with your legs, run with your heart!
